August 22, 2007 Email Message from Tammy Vega Manager of Volunteer Services Texas Youth Commission What if the STATE VOLUNTEER RESOURCE COUNCIL FOR TEXAS YOUTH earned a penny every time you searched the Internet? Well, now we can! An easy way to help this organization or any other cause you care about is through a new search engine powered by Yahoo! called GoodSearch. GoodSearch.com is a new search engine that donates half its revenue, about a penny per search, to the charities its users designate. It doesn't cost you a thing — the money comes from the advertisers. You use it just as you would any search engine, and it's powered by Yahoo!, so you get great results. Just go to www.goodsearch.com and be sure to enter the STATE VOLUNTEER RESOURCE COUNCIL FOR TEXAS YOUTH as the charity you want to support. We are NOT able to download the GoodSearch toolbar because of the strain it would place on our internal network, but you can bookmark the page and open it when you need to search the Internet for a work-related reason. You can use this search engine at home too. And at home, on your personal computer, you can download the toolbar if you wish to do so. Just 500 of us searching four times a day will raise about $7,300 in a year without anyone spending a dime! And, be sure to spread the word! The more people who use this site, the more money will go to the State Council. So please spread the word to your friends and family. You can also read about GoodSearch in the NY Times, Oprah Magazine, CNN, the Wall Street Journal, and more. Tammy Vega, M.P.Aff. |
